Laboratory Technician – Molecular/Diagnostic Technologies

Hartmann Young is partnered with a growing Biotechnology company who are looking to expand their team with an organised and proactive Lab Technician. This position would be based in the East of the UK, and would be central to ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient day-to-day running of lab operations.

Role:

• Manage day-to-day lab operations, ensuring an organised, clean, and efficient working environment
• Oversee lab consumables, including stock control, replenishment, and warehouse coordination
• Raise and manage purchase orders via internal systems
• Coordinate gas cylinder supply, including ordering, storage, and replacement
• Support and uphold health & safety standards across the laboratory
• Participate in health & safety initiatives, promoting best practices in chemical safety and waste management
• Manage PPE stock and ensure availability for all teams
• Maintain first aid supplies and support internal safety processes
• Assist with chemical management, including storage and COSHH-related activities
• Coordinate disposal of solid and liquid waste in line with regulations
• Support equipment lifecycle management, including logging, documentation, and tracking
• Coordinate calibration, servicing, maintenance, and repairs
• Work alongside internal teams to ensure compliance with quality standards
• Assist with onboarding processes for new starters (e.g., access, inductions)
• Support office and IT consumables management
• Provide ad hoc operational support across teams as needed

The Person:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a laboratory support role
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
• Understanding of health & safety practices within a lab environment
• Proactive & self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
