Overview

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person to join our busy and forward‑thinking Housing Options and Supply team in the Temporary Accommodation Officer role. The successful applicant will support households in temporary accommodation, seeking ways to maximise move‑on opportunities into longer‑term, permanent accommodation.

This role is fast‑paced and front‑facing. The successful candidate will demonstrate customer commitment and the ability to manage and build stakeholder and client relationships effectively to deliver the aims of the role.

Fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027, located in Buckinghamshire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all processes and matters associated with clients housed in Temporary Accommodation under the Council’s statutory homelessness duties.
  • Oversee management of void units in close collaboration with the in‑house Temporary Accommodation teams and external providers.
  • Act as the go‑to person for the housing team on all matters relating to Temporary Accommodation.
  • Work closely with clients, benefits teams and providers to protect the Council financially and ensure placements are appropriate, including undertaking affordability and suitability assessments and formulating move‑on plans for Main Housing Duty clients.
  • Maintain good relationships with stakeholders and partners in a partnership environment.
  • Represent the team in on‑site visits across the county and perform related office work.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with complex and vulnerable clients in an autonomous business area.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑starter with a can‑do approach and a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong organisational and detail‑oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in IT and good analytical skills.
  • Driving licence and access to a car with business insurance.

On the Go

As an “on the go” worker, the majority of time is spent visiting clients across the county, with some office work based out of any of the Council offices or Temporary Accommodation Buildings.

Working Arrangements

Full time, Monday – Friday, based across Buckinghamshire.
