Base pay range

We are working with a prominent UK regulatory body to find an experienced Legal Counsel to support a high-performing in-house legal team during a particularly busy period. This is a temporary 6-12 month role offering the opportunity to work on a range of complex legal matters in the public sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise on economic regulation of major infrastructure projects
Work on rail reform projects in alignment with government White Papers
Engage in litigation, including judicial review matters
Oversee policy for monitoring performance of key infrastructure providers under their respective licences
Provide legal guidance on consumer law, passenger protection, and complaints management
Assist in determining contractual disputes regarding timetabling and access
Ensure the safe operation of critical transport infrastructure under international obligations
Advise on competition law matters and corporate issues, such as employment and procurement

Qualifications & Skills:

Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales
Experience in public law, economic regulation, or policy-focused legal work is a plus
Strong litigation, regulatory, and advisory skills
Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including policy colleagues and government bodies
