Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert‑led Allianz Construction team as an integral member on the regional team. Your focus will be on profitable growth, retention and technical excellence in building a world‑class, multi‑niche insurance and engineering related service, with ambitious growth targets.

You will be responsible for underwriting construction risks with associated casualty/liability covers, ensuring customer business growth and retention. As a Senior Authority holder you will win and retain large and complex business, provide excellent service to customers, build successful broker relationships and be visible in the local market.

This role will be hybrid from our offices in either London or Guildford.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top‑line and bottom‑line targets.
  • Represent Allianz externally in the market.
  • Support the development and execution of the regional underwriting strategy.
  • Support key business initiatives.
  • Generate new producer relationships.
  • Participate and contribute to key projects.
  • Negotiate price and terms with producers.
  • Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including client and producer negotiations where necessary.
  • Drive involvement of functional areas (e.g., underwriting, claims, operations) in the underwriting process.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers, clients and other stakeholders such as risk managers.

Essential Skills

  • Seasoned professional with a proven track record in construction underwriting.
  • Confidence and articulate, comfortable engaging with brokers and undertaking negotiations.
  • Analytical and strategic, able to review submissions and understand Allianz’ appetite while considering market conditions.
  • Team player, self‑motivated and willing to train/mentor junior members of the team.
  • Competent IT skills.

Salary

Pay: Circa £50,000 per year. (Based on relevant experience, skills and location.)
