Overview
We are working with a high-growth payments business looking to hire an experienced Business Development Manager to join its commercial team in London.
This is an individual contributor role focused on winning and growing new business across the gaming, digital, and broader IT sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, building strong industry relationships, and driving revenue through consultative sales of payment and merchant solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional with experience in payments, fintech, acquiring, PSP, or related technology solutions, particularly within the gaming or digital commerce ecosystem.
The Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of the full sales cycle, from market mapping and outreach through to deal execution and handover. You will be expected to build a strong pipeline, engage senior decision-makers, and position the business as a strategic payments partner to merchants operating in gaming and online technology verticals.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders across product, onboarding, compliance, and leadership to ensure solutions are aligned to client needs and commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and win new business opportunities across the gaming, digital, and IT space
- Build and manage a strong pipeline through self-generated activity, referrals, events, and partner channels
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through to negotiation, closing, and handover
- Develop trusted relationships with key decision-makers including founders, commercial leads, payments teams, and C-level stakeholders
- Understand merchant pain points and position appropriate payment, acquiring, and value-added solutions
- Deliver strong commercial presentations, proposals, and negotiation strategies
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including compliance, integrations, operations, and product
- Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and sales activity within CRM
- Keep up to date with market developments, competitor activity, and trends within gaming and digital payments
- Represent the business at relevant industry events and networking opportunities
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, PSP, or related technology sectors
- Track record of winning new business and hitting or exceeding revenue targets
- Experience selling into gaming, online gambling, digital merchants, e-commerce, SaaS, or IT-led businesses
- Strong understanding of the payments landscape, including merchant services, acquiring, gateways, and related solutions
- Ability to build pipeline independently and generate leads through proactive outreach
- Comfortable engaging with senior commercial and executive stakeholders
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Based in or able to commute to London
- Existing network across gaming, betting, digital commerce, or high-risk merchant verticals
- Experience selling regulated or complex payment solutions
- Knowledge of cross-border payments, fraud, alternative payment methods, or acquiring structures
- Experience working in a high-growth fintech or scaling commercial environment
