Underwriting Manager – Healthcare / Medical Malpractice
Location: London / Hybrid
MDU Insurance Solutions is a specialist MGA focused on healthcare and medical malpractice risks. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting function and play a key role in shaping the commercial success of the business.
Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, you will have end‑to‑end responsibility for underwriting performance, governance and team leadership, working closely with capacity providers, brokers and senior stakeholders.
The Role
- Lead and manage the MGA underwriting function.
- Define and implement underwriting strategy, appetite and control frameworks.
- Ensure robust risk selection, pricing discipline and portfolio management.
- Maintain high standards of underwriting governance, compliance and regulatory adherence.
- Manage and develop a high‑performing underwriting team.
- Engage with brokers, capacity providers and key market stakeholders.
- Support business planning, innovation and data‑driven underwriting initiatives.
- Represent MDU Insurance Solutions in the wider insurance market when required.
About You
- Significant underwriting and pricing experience, ideally within healthcare or medical malpractice.
- Strong technical underwriting expertise with experience leading underwriting strategy.
- Proven leadership capability with experience managing and developing underwriting teams.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, reinsurance structures and actuarial concepts.
- Commercially astute, influential and confident engaging with senior stakeholders.
