We are seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join a local authority team in the South East on a 6-month contract. The role will primarily involve:

Responsibilities

• Conducting Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections
• Investigating complaints and enforcing housing standards in the private rented sector
• Taking appropriate enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
• Liaising with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies to improve housing conditions

Requirements

• Proven experience in private sector housing enforcement
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of housing legislation and HHSRS
• Strong communication and case management skills
• Relevant qualification in Environmental Health or Housing
