ROLE – Steel Detailer (Tekla)

SALARY – £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – West Midlands

My client provides bespoke metalwork for manufacture and installation. They are looking for a Steel Detailer with experience using Tekla Structures to join their team in the West Midlands area on a permanent basis.

The Steel Detailer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Proficient in using Tekla Structures/StruCAD for detailing steelwork
• 3 or more years’ experience in a similar steel detailing role, ideally within architectural or structural metalwork
• Strong understanding of architectural and structural steelwork, including connections and fabrication requirements
• HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
• Experience producing detailed fabrication and GA drawings for workshop use
• Good understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drawings
• Excellent communication skills for coordination with design, production, and site teams
• Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads to meet deadlines

The Steel Detailer role will involve:

• Producing high-quality fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures/StruCAD
• Creating accurate 3D models of steel structures based on architectural and structural input
• Generating GA, assembly, and part drawings for fabrication and site installation
• Producing and maintaining accurate BOMs and CNC data for manufacture
• Coordinating with engineers, architects, and project managers to resolve design issues
• Ensuring drawings meet client specifications and comply with relevant standards
• Supporting the design and production teams with technical information and guidance
• Maintaining drawing revisions and documentation in line with project requirements
