About the School of Computer Science and Mathematics
The School of Computer Science and Mathematics is dedicated to producing research that has real-world application, boasting specialisms in immersive technologies, applications of artificial intelligence, trustworthy computing technologies and data science.
Our academics have a strong track record of collaborating with others in the industry, having previously worked with organisations such as the BBC, NHS, Panasonic and EPSRC among many others. The School also works with local, regional and national organisations through student placement, research, consultancy, short‑course activity and has a number of active knowledge‑transfer partnerships.
What we’re looking for
As part of significant expansion across the University, the School of Computer Science and Mathematics is looking to grow our faculty expertise within the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Cyber Security. Applicants with experience in Ethical Hacking, System Penetration, Secure Software Development, Information Security and Cryptography are especially welcome, and certification in Ethical Hacking is strongly desired.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the enhancement of the Computer Science with Mathematics programmes, developing and delivering innovative curricula across undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Provide intellectually stimulating teaching while motivating and supporting students in their learning.
- Conduct research in your area of expertise and undertake scholarly activities to ensure the curriculum is up‑to‑date and meets the needs of students and employers.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of outreach and engagement initiatives as well as interdisciplinary project areas.
Qualifications
- PhD in a related subject and/or relevant professional experience from industry in cyber security.
- Experience in Ethical Hacking, System Penetration, Secure Software Development, Information Security and Cryptography.
- Certification in Ethical Hacking (strongly desired).
