Salary: Up to £32,000 + OTE
As a Business Development Consultant, you will use outbound sales and business development techniques to develop and close new business opportunities. Utilize networking opportunities and events to proactively build your pipeline. Identify opportunities for specialists to develop while owning the customer relationship and sales cycle. You will nurture footholds into new customers and then identify a full range of opportunities across the SCG product/service portfolio to include:
- Hosted IP Telephony
- Data Connectivity
- Cyber Security
- Business Mobile
- Private Cloud
- Network Security
- Managed IT Services
Key Tasks
- Work closely with prospective customers to understand underlying requirements, decision criteria, and the most appropriate solution from the range of SCG products and services.
- Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to proactively self‑generate sales opportunities through outbound sales/marketing activity, sales strategies, and entrepreneurial initiative.
- Accurately record and maintain records of all sales activity through the designated business systems.
- Work to achieve, and exceed, monthly targets and contribute to team/business unit goals.
- Primarily target the acquisition of new customers and cross‑sell/upsell opportunities into existing relationships.
- Nurture close working relationships with all customers and seek to fulfil the status of a “Trusted Partner.”
- Carefully map the SCG Sales Process and ensure a thorough and professional engagement with each opportunity, managed through automated systems including HubSpot.
- Professionally articulate the financial, operational, and technical benefits of each sale, negotiate contract awards, and provide detailed analysis of the reasons for each contract award and/or loss to feed back to the Sales Director and the continual improvement plan.
- Deliver accurate forecasting to support appropriate resource planning and business information.
- Embrace opportunities to drive further sales success, working in conjunction with SCG’s Marketing Team, Lead Generation Team, and the wider SCG Sales‑oriented community.
- Strive to continually deliver successful sales performance and share repeatable practices for wider business success.
- Deliver excellence in each engagement with all prospects to continue SCG’s unrivalled reputation for customer service.
