The role

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant / Project Manager to join our internal Finance Department based in our Taunton office. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave, for a minimum period of 12 months, but with the possibility of it becoming a permanent role

This role is pivotal in our firm’s financial operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, to support the business in strategic and operational decision making. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial controls and contributing to the ongoing development of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Provide analysis to support the Partners with strategic planning and decision making
  • Manage and identify internal finance processes, controls, and procedures for improvement
  • Be instrumental in driving the change
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant accounting standards
  • Support year‑end processes and liaise with external auditors where required

What we need from you

  • For you to be ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Demonstrable experience in a management accounting or a Finance Manager role
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion
  • Strong team‑working capability with a flexible, proactive attitude
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel; and Power Bi, experience with Practice Engine and Sage is advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging at all levels of the business
