The opportunity
As a Business Development Manager you will work with firms and advisers to encourage and deliver high quality standards amongst advisers which achieve correct and holistic customer outcomes, whilst meeting 2Plan’s control framework working with Training and Competence. This role will be key in supporting retention and growth and maintaining 2Plan as the largest IFA network.

Key Accountabilities
- Be a trusted, skilled 2plan representative, proactively building and maintaining strong relationships, embedded as the key point of contact for assigned Members.
- Provide consultancy and business development expertise to achieve practice growth according to targets and best practice. Developing relationships with key SMEs whilst leading initiatives to support growth in capacity and capability of Members to optimise client and market opportunities.
- Define, document and agree and regularly review business objectives and targets with Principals and other key stakeholders as directed, optimising on 2plan’s business plan tools and processes, and in doing so to assist members by diagnosing and addressing issues and opportunities relating to business development.
- Be a centre of knowledge and accountable driving force for the marketplace, 2plan proposition, process, systems and digital platforms such as best practice across business operation, sales/advice process, fees, remuneration, back office, practice profitability, and succession/future outcome planning effectively utilising SMEs/Specialists.
- Take personal ownership of Issues and take to a conclusion utilising 2plan and group resources.
- Support “champions” and agreed strategies to deliver key business objectives.
- Identify potential recruits to grow the network.
What will you need to succeed?
Essential
- Previous experience across B2B / intermediary relationships, and thorough understanding of distribution models in FS marketplace.
- Experience in understanding and supporting small and medium size businesses with developing business plans and driving commerciality.
- Good working knowledge across investment, protection/insurance, mortgage, and pension products. Demonstrable experience across B2B / intermediary relationships, and thorough understanding of distribution models in FS marketplace.
- Demonstrable knowledge in terms of financial services distribution, issues facing owners of financial adviser businesses, commercial models, and key relevant rules and legislation.
- Experience of addressing risk management issues through professional and challenging interactions.
- Previous knowledge and use of CRM/contact systems, and/or experience in the use of other contact management tools.
- General knowledge of financial advice regulation and able to be fully conversant with the Openwork Suitable Advice Framework.
- Good understanding of how different business practices, operating models and product propositions can benefit different types of businesses and their customers.
- Develop a strong understanding of our PBO model and practical application/support.
Desirable
- Experience of managing/supervising Financial Advisers for regulated purposes.
- Personal regulated financial advice experience.
- Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning Qualification (preferable)
