Product Manager (Cards) – Engine by Starling

About The RoleIn this role within Engine’s Product & Technology function you will run one or more subdomains in the Cards area, ensuring successful product development throughout and having oversight and involvement in the creation of new cards features. You will also work closely with the wider cards product team, including contributing to the broader cards roadmap and having touch points with our existing and future clients to ensure we support them effectively.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of a best‑in‑class card product by scoping out breakthrough features and owning the end‑to‑end delivery of your sub‑domain(s) in close alignment with the Product and Engineering domain leaders.
- Contribute to the overall card roadmap with inputs from your sub‑domain(s).
- Work cross‑functionally with engineers, designers, document writers and QA to drive the design and delivery of improvements to the product that align with the vision of the business.
- Prioritise incoming tasks and clearly communicate the why of each decision.
- Manage deadlines and proactively raise delivery risks that may impact client projects.
- Develop a close relationship with our Delivery and Customer Success teams, taking the lead on assessing feature requests and client requirements as a key input to overall feature and roadmap definition.
- Work closely with our Business Development team by helping the team understand Engine’s capabilities in your domain and joining early‑stage sales conversations as an SME.
- Champion feature delivery and adapt communication and materials to different stakeholders.
Requirements
- 2+ years of direct Product Manager/owner experience, ideally in FinTech or with a regulated lender.
- Owned and delivered new features or products from start to finish, ensuring successful in‑life maintenance.
- Experience in card payments: Visa/Mastercard, card payment regulatory compliance, 3DS, mobile wallets, card processing.
- Experience with APIs and mobile UX insights for the cards world.
- Comfortable leading multiple workstreams and presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to rapidly understand problems and present structured solutions.>

- 45 minutes with a team member.
- 1 hour with two more people including the Technical Product Director.
- 45 minutes with two senior leaders.
