A Clerk of Works with experience in housing inspection in new-build and refurbishment residential projects, as well as health, education, and commercial projects, is needed to join a Clerk of Works consultancy.
You will be required to cover projects in Essex.
ICWCI / MICWCI qualification is preferred, although your new employer is happy to assist you in becoming ICWCI qualified.
The successful candidate for this Quality Technical Inspector role will have experience in both new-build housing and residential construction projects, as well as health, education, and commercial projects.
You will be based in Essex.
Experience of new build building and building refurbishment, along with detailed knowledge of various forms of construction, would be advantageous.
Knowledge of fire safety and fire safety remediation would also be an advantage.
You will be required to cover projects in Essex.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Quality Technical Inspector will be responsible for:
- Undertaking regular inspections of construction work to monitor progress and quality (driving license essential)
- Verifying compliance with contractual drawings, specifications, and warranty standards
- Providing advice on quality management
- Liaising with building contractors
- Preparing reports for Employer Agents and Project Managers
- Preparing snagging reports with photos using tablet-based software (Plan Radar / Field View, etc.)

- Experience inspecting new-build and refurbishment projects as a Quality Technical Inspector
- Ability to write well-presented, high-standard reports
- Experience preparing snagging reports with photos using tablet-based software
- Good organization skills to prioritize workload
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work under pressure
- Current technical knowledge and ability to read construction drawings
- Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook; Excel is desirable
- Full driving license – ESSENTIAL
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- ICWCI / MICWCI qualification as MICWCI, Assoc. ICWCI, or LICWCI is preferred
- Other designations (CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE) will be considered if willing to obtain ICWCI qualification soon after joining
