We are recruiting a Project Controls Consultant to join us in either our flagship London office or at one of our other fantastic offices including Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol. The primary function of this role will be the management and delivery of Project and programme controls for clients, addressing actual budget and forecast costs in order to effectively capture the business and project status. You will support the delivery of PMO best practice within a consulting environment, gaining experience across cost, reporting, data management and controlled document processes on a live project.

- Develop cost control functions for Energy projects and programs undertaken by AECOM.
- Establish and implement detailed project controls plans and procedures in accordance with AECOM standards and client project requirements.
- Develop, maintain and manage project progress reporting, including all financial and earned value reporting, in accordance with contract and business requirements.
- Prepare project budgets and estimates.
- Coordinate and compile input from team members and various weekly reports.
- Establish and maintain baseline budgets and cost plans, communicating status on an ongoing basis to project teams, clients and other third parties.
- Implement and monitor change control requirements including changes to project scope, budgets, contracts and schedule.
- Capture and monitor data to ensure accurate and reliable plans, cost, schedule, contract, pricing and invoicing information are in place and accurately and promptly reported.
- Develop and maintain planned and actual cost and commitment schedules (including “S” curves) and earned value.
- Review, distribute and track invoices and progress payments for AECOM, its sub‑consultants and other third parties.
- Communicate project control needs and objectives to AECOM line managers and other project personnel.
- Maintain project document registers, ensuring records are complete, accurate and up‑to‑date.
- Control the receipt, issue, filing and archiving of project documentation.
- Ensure correct version control, naming conventions and approval status are applied.
- Support document reviews, transmittals and distribution to internal and client teams.
- Assist with audit readiness by maintaining clear document trails and records.
- Act as a point of contact for basic document queries from the project team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised and accredited university.
- Working experience gained in a multi‑discipline project environment.
- Experienced in leading project controls on projects or programmes.
- Excellent understanding of scheduling, budgeting, cost reporting, progress and earned value reporting, including experience with a variety of project control systems.
- Experienced in the preparation of cost control plans and procedures, and communication of such to project teams.
- Experienced in the timely and accurate preparation of project weekly and monthly reports, and presentation of results and recommendations to senior management on tight timescales.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Advanced level proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects) and, preferably, Primavera P6 and Power BI.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities and time effectively.
