Role Overview
The Talent Acquisition Lead owns end-to-end hiring at Buttermilk. This role exists to ensure we consistently attract, assess, and hire exceptional people who raise the bar for our teams and strengthen our culture as we scale. This includes hiring across all levels of the business, with particular focus on senior, specialist, and harder-to-hire roles.
You’ll partner closely with senior leaders and hiring managers to translate business needs into clear hiring strategies, while building inclusive, efficient, and candidate-first recruitment processes that support sustainable growth across the UK and and the US (with a particular focus on our New York expansion).
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the full recruitment lifecycle across all roles, from briefing and sourcing through to offer and onboarding
- Partner with SLT and hiring managers to forecast hiring needs and design role-specific hiring strategies
- Lead proactive sourcing and talent pipelining, particularly for specialist and senior roles
- Embed fair, inclusive, and values-aligned hiring practices across all processes
- Manage and continuously improve recruitment systems, data, and reporting (e.g. time to hire, quality of hire, candidate experience)
- Act as a brand ambassador for Buttermilk in the market, ensuring a standout candidate experience at every touchpoint
- Own the probation process for new starters, working closely with managers to ensure clear goals, timely feedback, and confident confirmation decisions
- Ensure all job descriptions across the business are accurate, up to date, and aligned to current role scope, competencies, and progression frameworks

- Hiring managers feel supported, constructively challenged, and confident in hiring and probation decisions
- Recruitment data and insights (e.g. time to hire, quality of hire, probation outcomes) clearly inform workforce planning and growth decisions
- Job descriptions across the business remain accurate, current, and aligned to role scope and progression frameworks
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience owning end-to-end recruitment in a fast-paced, scaling business (agency, creative, media, tech, or similar environment)
- Strong track record of hiring high-performing, values-aligned talent across multiple disciplines and seniority levels
- Experience partnering with senior leaders, with the confidence to advise, influence, and challenge on hiring and role design decisions
- Hands-on experience with proactive sourcing and talent pipelining, particularly for specialist and senior roles
- Experience managing probation processes or early tenure frameworks, ensuring clear expectations, feedback, and outcomes
- Comfortable owning and maintaining job descriptions, role scope, and alignment to competency or progression frameworks
- Data-literate, with experience using recruitment metrics to inform decisions and improve processes
- A values-led approach with a genuine commitment to fair, inclusive, and consistent hiring practices
- Experience owning, improving, or evolving an in-house ATS or recruitment systems, ensuring they support efficient hiring, good data quality, and a strong candidate experience
